ERAPharm conference

19-21 September 2007, CSL, York, U.K.

At the end of the project, a scientific conference will be organised to discuss the results of ERAPharm and other projects on pharmaceuticals in the environment. Scientists from academia, end-users and stakeholders, such as representatives from national and international competent authorities, the pharmaceutical industry, industry associations and NGOs, are invited to the conference.

Scope

Pharmaceuticals have been widely detected in soils, surface waters and groundwater across the world. As they are bioactive substances, concerns have been raised about their potential impact on the environment.

ERAPharm 2007 will review the current state of knowledge concerning the inputs, fate, effects and risks of veterinary and human medicines in the Environment. During this international congress, the following issues will be addressed:

• Methods for exposure assessment
• Modelling approaches
• Effects assessment in the laboratory and field
• Environmental risk assessment
• Strategies for screening and targeting testing

The application of these methodologies will be demonstrated using case studies. The meeting will comprise a number of keynote presentations and poster and paper sessions.
